A stabbing on a crowded northwest London street near Wembley ended in a man’s death after an argument inside a Post Office escalated, witnesses say.
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service pulled the victim from the shop and fought to keep him alive as onlookers watched in shock. He was then transported to hospital, where he sadly died.
The victim’s family have been notified and are receiving support from specialist officers.
A delivery driver who was near the scene described panicked shoppers running for safety.
It felt terrifying, the driver recalled to the Metro, with Wembley’s usual bustle interrupted by mothers with prams and frightened children. Some people were screaming.
The driver said: “Paramedics pulled him outside and performed chest compressions for what seemed like ages. They did everything possible.”
Forensic teams are examining the area for clues, while detectives review CCTV footage from the vicinity. No arrests have been reported at this stage.
A formal post-mortem will be conducted in due course.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams offered condolences to the victim’s loved ones during this extraordinarily difficult time. He stressed that knife crime devastates communities and that officers will support local residents with any concerns, adding that residents should expect a higher police presence in the coming days.
He also affirmed that investigators are moving quickly to reconstruct the sequence of events and urged anyone with information to come forward.
The London Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that resources were dispatched to the scene, including an ambulance crew, fast-response paramedics, and an incident response officer. A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched. The man received treatment at the scene before being rushed to hospital as a priority.
People with information are urged to contact the police on 101 or, for anonymity, call 0800 555111.
