Hold onto your katanas, because Ghost of Yotei just got a massive performance upgrade on the PS5 Pro! Thanks to the latest patch, the game is smoother than ever, and the results are truly impressive.
The update, patch 1.1, brings some significant performance enhancements, especially for those rocking a PS5 Pro. This is largely due to the introduction of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support.
Just to recap, the update, which launched last week, also added New Game+ and some exciting new graphical settings. But the real star of the show? The ability to uncap the game's frame rate, leading to some seriously silky gameplay.
The 'Balanced' mode, which includes ray tracing, now aims for 40 frames per second, but with the frame rate uncapped, it often hovers between 40 and a buttery-smooth 60fps on the PS5 Pro.
But here's where it gets really exciting: the already excellent RT Pro mode jumps from 60fps to a range between 70 and 90fps! Digital Foundry called the jump "incredible," and it's easy to see why. Atsu's adventure is now even more visually stunning and responsive.
And this is the part most people miss: if you choose to turn off ray tracing and stick with the standard Performance, Balanced, and Quality modes with the frame rate uncapped, you'll see about a 33% increase in frames across the board.
And what about the base PS5? The Balanced mode offers a similar boost to the PS5 Pro, as long as you have a VRR-compatible 120Hz display. With the frame rate uncapped, you can hit 60fps.
So, what do you think? Have you experienced these beautiful frame rate boosts in Ghost of Yotei since Update 1.1? Do you agree with Digital Foundry's assessment? Let's hear your thoughts in the comments below!
